Stop embarrassing yourselves and step your game up. You don’t want to look back in 20 years and see a picture of you standing with your 1982 El Camino still in primer because you spent your MAACO money on the silly looking ice cream truck horn mounted right on top. Just ask your Dad how that Vanilla Ice hair cut and those MC Hammer pants worked out for him? Well, you can ask him when he gets out anyway, but the point is, let Creative Sound Solutions be YOUR solution to mobile exterior public address. And you know, after you get the sound just right, and maybe after the bondo is sanded down real good, and the paint that you end up doing in your cousins driveway looks kind of OK, Well, then just maybe you can talk to Russell here at Creative Lighting Solutions and get him to order up some ultra cool disco type moving head lights so that not only do they HEAR you coming, but they also SEE you coming. (I think that’s also legal).

You know, it is tourist season and we wouldn’t want any of the Germans driving down Del Prado and getting a look at that Bull Horn. What will they think? Well I can tell you that the first thing out of their mouths will be “Horfunk Hutte?” Which is German for Radio Shack. Listen, stand up for your country and call Creative Sound Solutions or you’ll possibly live with this shame forever. God Bless America.

I’d like to pose a couple questions that I’d like you to answer now and then again at the end of this blog. There are no right or wrong answers…just for fun.

In a new or remodel construction effort for your Church, if your funds gets low what is the first thing you cut out?

Sound, Video, Stage Lighting

Finishes (Paint, Trims, Furniture)

Office Equipment

How early should you bring your AVL contractor in when building or remolding your new House of Worship?

Concept

Design

Construction

A week before opening

Part 1

I contacted a Church that was building a new facility on the West coast of Florida. They were very happy when we told them our no cost policy on site visits & design. They were very eager to meet. They were already having budget problems with the construction and made it clear they had a set budget on AVL. We took a 4 hour drive to meet with the Church and spent about 5 hours with them going over what to do and what not to do. We parted ways with a game plan and felt pretty good about the time we spent.

Time passes by and we don’t hear back from them. We tried to contact them but didn’t hear back. We chalked it up as one of those situations where they got the info to try to do it their self and would call when they run into issues.

Well, we got the call. However by the time we got it they already brought in other companies & had so many hands in the install they spent more money than we originally budgeted! Now they would need to hire us to show them how to rig the speakers. It was a mess. They waited until the last minute to pull a hail marry.

They began talking about how they had to cut the Audio, Video and Lighting budget because they were running out of money. Yet, the chairs are still high end, the tile is top notch, and the trims are all above average. If someone came in and seen this beautiful place they would be expecting a spectacular AVL experience.

I give them credit for trying to do it on their own and I think the world of this Church. But if you bring a company in that knows what they’re doing…work with them. We were willing to help this Church out but because there were too many decision makers and no one watching the process they lost.

Create a relationship and it will pay off…That brings me to part 2. A situation where everything is done right and still issues happen.

Part 2

I flew to New Jersey to meet with a Church I’ve worked with for a few years. This Church is full of awesome people and every time I go up they get better and better! They have been constantly growing and needed something bigger. Pastor Dan called me right away and told me what their plans were and kept me in the loop. After a few weeks I got the call that they found the place.

So now we need to look at taking a Church mobile plant, meeting at a middle school, to a permanent Building. The building they found was multi-purpose with other offices in the same building so they had to undergo permitting issues with the city. They hired an architect to draw up some plans and off we go.

Some of the things you need to keep in mind when looking at a building are Enough Parking, Zoning, Access, ADA upgrades to just name a few. Get a good architect for your build out and get multiple GC bids. Compare them apples to apples.

The Church had everything going for them. The people who owned the building wanted them in, the city liked the idea. It was pretty much in the bag. Here’s where the lesson comes in. Nobody checked to see if the current electrical installation, (Designed for an office), would be acceptable for a Church. Every piece of electrical cable has to be ripped out and replaced with commercial grade cables. This was about 100K blow to the budget. So in this case, the AVL budget was gone.

The original purpose for my visit was to inspect the new location they were going to remodel. I had a budget of about $30K to work with and I already knew I was going to donate some speakers I won at Infocomm so I was pretty excited about what I was going to be able to do for this Church.

We were able to save them money in the lighting system incorporating the stage lighting dimmer with the house lights. This is something we recommend if you’re using conventional lighting for your house. See our blog about the AR1202.

Pastor Dan had done everything right and still unforeseen issues took a huge chuck of change out of the AVL budget. This is important to know, when people walk into your church and are impressed by the soft carpet & chairs, contemporary paintjob, and furniture you’ve done something awesome! But if you sound system took a back seat to all of the finishes YOU LOSE. Listen, what are we trying to do? Get the word out correct? Well, if your sound is just thrown together there will be distractions. If there are distractions and hums….you missed the mark.

Pastor Dan understands this, that’s why he brought us in at the beginning. And that why Pastor Dan is this years Super Pastor.

Cape Coral, FL-based Creative Sound Solutions, LLC, an AV design/build firm that handles audio, video, lighting, and acoustics for the commercial and church markets, was contracted to revitalize the Cultural Park Theatre’s sound system. After careful review, Creative Sound Solutions’ owner Tony Flammia ultimately determined that a combination of WorxAudio Technologies Wave Series 12Ai and 6Ai loudspeakers were the ideal solution to the theatre’s vexing sound issues. He discussed the nature of the project.

“This venue is approximately 40 wide feet by 80 feet long—with stadium-type seating for 189 people,” Flammia notes. “The stage faces into the length of the room, so throw was quite important. We had a limited budget to work with and, as such, there were no provisions for subwoofers as part of this loudspeaker installation. Because of this, we needed to find a solution with suitable throw that not only had the ability to deliver a high level of speech intelligibility, the system also had to be capable of reproducing music with full range fidelity. We found it with the WorxAudio Wave Series loudspeakers.”

Flammia, who also served as the system designer on this project, ultimately deployed a combination of two Wave Series 12Ai and two Wave Series 6Ai loudspeakers. The loudspeaker setup is arranged with one 12Ai and one 6Ai per left and right sides of the stage—flown at a height of approximately 12 feet over the stage. The Wave Series 12Ai is positioned atop the 6Ai. Of particular note, the Wave Series 6Ai loudspeaker enclosures are angled in and down from the Wave Series 12Ai’s in order to handle frontfill responsibilities for those patrons seated in the rows closest to the stage. The loudspeakers are affixed to the trussing that runs above the stage.

Have you ever been in that service or meeting when the on-screen display suddenly went blank? Awkward feeling, isn’t it? Either you feeling for the presenter, or worse yet, you are the presenter, who’s suddenly found himself at a loss for words, and trying to recover as you’ve suddenly gotten distracted by a technical difficulty. Seconds seem like minutes, minutes seem like, well you get the idea.

Most unfortunate is this probably could have been prevented had you known it was coming. “How could you have known the projector was going to fail?,” you may ask. The answer, preventative maintenance.

Take your car, for example. You’re getting ready for a long road trip. You want to be sure it’s safe to take the family for a long ride, so you have the oil changed, check the tires and brakes, the tranny fluid, cooling system, and any other systems that are critical to safe travel.

The same thing should go for your projector. There are many components to the projector that could cause the unit to not function properly. The filter, fan, bulb, or any other major part of the projector could cause the projector to fail if routine maintenance is not preformed. Clean your filters, blow out the dust / debris from the vents, check the fans, and check the hours on your bulb. Also, ensure all of the power and signal cables are connected securely. Heavy thunderstorms may cause them the projector to shake or vibrate, causing the cable connections to come loose, and you know the rest.

“How can I get to the projector, it’s hanging from the ceiling about 25′ from the floor,” you may say, or “our maintenance guy doesn’t know how to check all that stuff.”

Good news, we can help! We have our own lift, and offer service plans to meet your needs, and your budget. Call us today for a consultation, and avoid that embarrassing moment during your service.

After installing a few of these I am impressed by the ease of programming and options available with the AR1202. It is also budget friendly as compared to similar models by other manufacturers. The dimmer features 12-2400 watt channels and up to 31 units are link able to add more. power can be supplied With 120/208VAC Three Phase, 80 Amps each Leg OR 120/240VAC Single Phase, 120 Amps each Leg. There are a number of different remote stations available from a simple light switch type to a 16 scene remote wall station. This works great for different points of egress to your room and having the ability to have preset scenes keeping hands off the lighting console. Most common uses for a multi scene remote station would be for cleaning crews or choir/band practice etc. There is a built in calendar clock and event timer that is easy to program so imagine that every Tuesday evening you need house lights and some stage lights on for band practice. Then you want just house lights up every Sunday 2 hours before service. The event timer makes that easy.<img class="alignright"
GLD is more than a mixer—it’s a complete digital mixing system. Our dSNAKE Cat5 digital multicore together with our plug ‘n’ play audio racks and expanders make it simple and affordable to build the system as your needs grow. Networking cards let you link GLD systems, make multi-track recordings or connect with other systems. An AviomTM compatible Monitor port allows connection to personal monitoring systems.

Analogue veterans, digital converts and novices alike will feel at home with GLD, thanks to a balance of WYSIWYG analogue-style controls and intuitive touchscreen interface. The layout and appearance of the GLD-80 can be customised quickly and easily, providing an interface that logically mirrors your application and puts the operator at their ease.

As you would expect from Allen & Heath, GLD delivers outstanding audio performance, with a new high-end mic preamp, low latency and the DSP muscle to provide full processing without compromise. GLD-80’s FX engines are taken directly from the iLive system and feature beautifully crafted emulations of industry classics.

Finally, a system that delivers all the benefits of digital mixing at the price of an analogue mixer—and that’s before you think about all the outboard gear it replaces.

GLD-80 features a colour touchscreen with on-screen keyboard and dedicated data encoder for instant and intuitive access to all key functions and parameters.

20 faders arranged in 4 layers means you get access to 80 independent channel strips. Not only can you design your own mixer by arranging them across the surface, but each one comes with a write-on display where custom names and colours for easy identification are coupled with information relevant to the current mix mode.

GLD-80 puts essential controls like Preamp, HPF, Gate, Parametric EQ and Compressor right at your fingertips. Hit the Select key on a channel strip and the processing strip becomes the controls for that input or mix, with clear visual displays of current settings and dedicated, analogue style controls.

GLD builds on the success of the iLive digital mixing system and delivers the same outstanding audio quality, transparency, low latency and proven reliability.

One of the great strengths directly inherited from iLive is its dynamics and acclaimed suite of FX: 8 stereo RackFX engines with the additional, dedicated channels and buses to handle them all without compromise. GLD is capable, for example, of simultaneously running up to 56 sources, 20 mix outputs, 6 mono FX and 2 stereo FX to the mix.

Try out various compressor styles and pick your favourite algorithm for each channel. Choose from a library of emulations of classic industry devices, and enjoy the very same FX sound that has toured the globe with Adele and many others.

GLD gives you the freedom to put your I/O where you need it and the flexibility to expand and adapt your system as your needs change.

The GLD-80 mixer is the heart of any GLD system. Although GLD-80 is capable of standalone operation, it comes into its own when connected to the main GLD-AR2412 AudioRackand up to two GLD-AR84 expanders. All components in a GLD system are connected over up to 120 metres (over 390ft) of Cat5 cable, so no more bulky, costly copper multicores.

</v:shape><![endif]--> “Until today, digital wireless microphone users have had to accept trade-offs,” said Erik Vaveris, Category Director for Wireless products at Shure. “No digital wireless system has come close to meeting the performance standard set by Shure’s industry leading analog wireless product line – until now.”

The ULX-D system’s unprecedented combination of audio quality, signal stability, and spectral efficiency is driven by a unique digital wireless audio technology developed by Shure. “The result is a tremendous breakthrough in wireless audio quality,” said Vaveris. “This is the purest reproduction of source material ever available in a wireless system.”

The ULX-D system also raises the bar for spectral efficiency and RF signal stability. “The intermodulation performance of ULX-D enables a dramatic increase in the number of simultaneous active systems in one TV channel, making the most of the available spectrum,” said Vaveris. Up to 14 ULX-D systems can operate in one six MHz TV channel, making it easy to use, even in highly congested urban areas where open TV channels can be scarce. For applications where secure transmission is required during confidential meetings, the ULX-D system includes Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256-bit encryption for privacy.

The Shure ULX-D Digital Wireless system is now shipping and available through authorized Shure resellers in numerous configurations with a wide range of Shure microphone options. Some typical systems are shown below:

ULXD14 Instrument Wireless System: $1,650 (MSRP), $1,320 (MAP)

ULXD14/83 Lavalier Wireless System with WL183 lavalier mic: $1,746 (MSRP), $1,397 (MAP)

ULXD24/SM58 Handheld Wireless System with SM58 mic: $1,686 (MSRP), $1,349 (MAP)

ULXD124/85 Combo system with ULXD4 receiver, ULXD2 handheld transmitter with SM58 mic, and ULXD1 bodypack transmitter with WL185 lavalier mic: $2,368 (MSRP), $1,894 (MAP)
